Who CANNOT love a vintage Cartier Baignoire in 18k yellow gold with a double-row pavé diamond bezel? The oval case is named for the French word for bathtub. The case sits horizontally on the wrist in that distinct Cartier style: elongated and a little whimsical. The bezel is set with a double row of round brilliant diamonds with a diamond crown. The ribbed tubogas-style bracelet is solid and wraps the wrist with gorgeous heft.
The Baignoire shape traces back to 1906, when Louis Cartier sketched an oval case intended to be worn perpendicular to the wrist. It debuted in limited production in the early 20th century but wasn't formalized under the Baignoire name until 1973, when Cartier relaunched it as part of its Les Must collection. The tubogas bracelet (the ribbed, interlocking gold links) was a hallmark of Cartier's opulent 1980s–90s output and pairs beautifully with the Baignoire's oval case. The diamond bezel version was positioned as the dressier tier, worn as much to dinner as to the office. One of the HOTTEST watches in the market these days!
