According to the GIA website:
"Conch "pearls" are calcareous concretions produced by the Queen conch molliisk, Strombus gigas, which is found in various areas of the Caribbean. Although conch "pearls" occur in a range of colors, the pink are usually the most desirable." Desirable and extremely rare, conch pearls are technically not pearls due to their non-nacreous nature, they are still referred as such and gem quality specimens command a premium in the market.”
