Hermes and Chains
Chain jewelry has always been important in Hermès' story. The Maison started in 1837 making harnesses and saddles, so buckles, bridles, chains, and other equestrian hardware have shaped its design style from the beginning. One of Hermès’ most famous chain designs is the Chaîne d’Ancre, which Robert Dumas created in 1937 after seeing anchor chains on the Normandy coast.
