Paloma Picasso’s Graffiti X brooch for Tiffany & Co. is part of her famous Graffiti collection, which she launched in the early 1980s. At that time, she was bringing a fresh energy to fine jewelry. She took inspiration from the raw, handwritten graffiti she saw in New York and transformed something edgy and urban into something surprisingly polished.
The “X” is deliciously simple, but it’s packed with attitude. Sometimes it reads as a kiss, sometimes a signature, sometimes just a bold little mark that says, 'I’m here.' There’s a bit of rebellion in its lines, but it still feels intimate and personal.
True to Paloma’s signature style, the brooch is graphic and expressive, with just the right touch of the unexpected for Tiffany.
