This vintage Cartier Colisée ring is beautifully sculpted in warm 18K yellow gold, with two rounded bands that sweep across one another in a fluid twist. An oval cabochon ruby sits at the center, flanked by two round brilliant-cut diamonds.
The name Colisée is French for “Colosseum,” a fitting reference for a collection known for its bold, rounded forms and architectural sense of proportion. Best associated with Cartier designs from the later 20th century, Colisée pieces have a substantial presence while still feeling wearable.
No longer part of Cartier’s regular jewelry offering, Colisée designs appear far less often than the house’s Love, Trinity or Panthère collections and is rarely found in the market these days.
