The toi et moi style has one of the most romantic origin stories in jewelry. The design became famous in 1796, when Napoleon Bonaparte proposed to Joséphine de Beauharnais with a two-stone ring set with a pear-shaped sapphire and diamond. The concept was beautifully simple: two stones, two people, one shared story.
