Carre cuts, originally cut in the Deco period, are such a delight to find in the wild. This baby, a true vintage cut in an excellent size, also has excellent color and clarity. She’s a 3.63ct I VS2 sitting in a platinum bezel and a chunky 18kt yellow gold shank. The ring itself is biiiig on geometric energy, with crisp corners and that classic hall-of-mirrors sort of sparkle you’d expect from a step cut. Carre cuts are similar to emeralds or asschers, except they do NOT have those clipped corners, so what you get is a perfect square with an open culet and a visible Maltese cross. We love how it sits on the finger and find it to be so, so chic. The lines are super clean and fluid on this ring, paying perfect homage to the diamond itself.
