Catherine Zeta Jones

No famous celebrity engagement ring list excludes this next one. Maybe because it is estimated to be worth between 1 and 2.5 million, maybe because it represents a Hollywood marriage that has lasted 17 years, or maybe because it just so absolutely beautiful.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones met at the Deauville Film Festival in 1998, and were married relatively soon after. He propsed on New Year’s Eve 1999, in Aspen after attending a party with friends. Apparently he slipped her away early, so they could spend the first few hours of the millenium together.

Just as sweet as the proposal is the ring he presented to her. Supposedly, he had been sitting on this Fred Leighton stunner for some time. Vintage inspired, and completely glam, the ring features a ten carat marquise natural white diamond. The center stone is surrounded by 28 smaller diamonds in a recessed halo, and is one real sparkler. What we love most about Catherina Zeta Jones’s ring is that the marquise is set east-west, which isn’t the usual choice for navette shaped stones. This gives it a little bit more uniquness and character and we think it was 100% the right choice for the stone. It looked absolutely gorgeous on her wedding day (alongside a Fred Leighton diamond tiara) at the Plaza Hotel and still looks stunning on her today.
