Amal Clooney

We love when celebrities are great role models for our children and use their status for a greater good. And for that reason, we’re pretty big fans of Amal (Alamuddin) Clooney. Amal is a human rights lawyer and the president of the Clooney Foundation for Justice. She is an extremely hard working, highly intelligent, and all around beautiful woman (and soon to be mother!). George Clooney is a lucky man to win the affection of such an accomplished woman.

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin met at a charity dinner in Italy and the long time bachelor became bachelor no more. He proposed on bended knee in April of 2014 with a ring he had designed himself. He was careful to choose a diamond that was ethically mined and kept the setting clean and sophisticated. The center diamond is an incredibly high quality 7 carat emerald cut white diamond. Set in platinum with two tapered baguette diamonds flanking the center stone, we think this ring is very reminiscent of Grace Kelly’s engagement, no?

The two married only a few short months later in September of 2014 in Venice. Recently, Amal Clooney started wearing a simple platinum band in lieu of her dazzling rock. She said that she cherishes the ring George gave her and will always keep it, but a more subtle band suits her line of work more appropriately. A very sensible and noble reason to store away such a beautiful ring.
